This week for Throwback Thursday we are highlighting Captain Willie Murphy.
Captain Murphy was born and raised in the City of Milwaukee and is a proud graduate of Riverside High School. He was appointed to the Milwaukee Police Department in 1996 and was assigned to patrol duties in District 2 after graduating from the Milwaukee Police Academy.
Having the desire to lead, he became a Field Training Officer (FTO) and taught new recruit officers how to thoroughly investigate crimes and calls for service. In 2002, he was promoted to police sergeant and served in a variety of patrol and administrative capacities including District 1, District 3, Internal Affairs Division, Technical Communications Division, and Court Administration. In 2016, he was promoted to police lieutenant and served as the shift commanders for Districts 4 and 5. In 2018, he was promoted to the rank of captain and proudly serves as the commander of District 7.
Captain Murphy is passionate about developing strong relationships with the residents of the neighborhoods he serves. He believes, “As law enforcement professionals, we must constantly be committed to the pursuit of excellence. We must be men and women of integrity and always remember our purpose for serving and protecting our community.”
Thank you Captain Murphy for your dedication to the Milwaukee Police Department and for serving the residents of the City of Milwaukee. #TBT
