Milwaukee Area Investigative Team Conducts Investigation of Suicide Attempt by a Prisoner in MPD District

The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team is investigating a suicide attempt by a prisoner that occurred on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at approximately 8:40 p.m., at Milwaukee Police District 7.

On November 7, 2019, at 5:55 P.M., in the 2900 block of North 41st Street, Milwaukee Police Officers conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation. An arrest was ultimately made due to narcotics that were recovered from the suspect and vehicle.

The suspect was transported to District 7 for prisoner processing. During a routine check, an officer observed the suspect unresponsive and hanging in the cell. Several officers responded and provided first aid. The male, a twenty year old Milwaukee man was transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.

As protocol, the Milwaukee Area Investigative Team is investigating this critical incident as the subject’s injuries are life threatening. The Waukesha Police Department is the lead investigating agency and the investigation is ongoing.
