At approximately 6:29 p.m., the Milwaukee Police and Milwaukee Fire Department responded to an accident pedestrian struck on the 2500 Block of W. Clybourn St. A 37 year old Milwaukee male victim was legally standing on the median on the south side of the intersection facing southbound when a Black Toyota 4 Runner backed into the victim running him over. The Fire Department attempted life saving measures without success. The investigation indicated a witness observed the 4 runner stopped on the east side of the street facing northbound north of the intersection when the vehicle began going in reverse across the intersection until it struck the victim. The driver of the vehicle was identified to be a 47 year old male, and he was arrested for operating an auto while under the influence of an intoxicant.
In addition, when MFD was responding to the pedestrian struck, a Battalion Chief, while activating his lights and siren, was proceeding eastbound on W. Clybourn St. when he was struck by another motorist who was driving northbound on N 26th St., through the intersection. There were no injuries in this accident and this accident did not impede MFD’s response to the fatal accident on N 25th St.
At approximately 8:11 p.m., the Milwaukee Police Department and the Milwaukee Fire Department responded to a pedestrian struck accident on the 1000 Block of West Wisconsin Ave. Investigation revealed a 60 year male was crossing the intersection from east to west on the south side of the intersection of 1000 W. Wisconsin Ave., when a 20 year old female was proceeding northbound in a vehicle through the intersection which had a valid green signal at a high rate of speed. The vehicle struck the victim and the victim was conveyed by MFD to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and was arrested for operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant.
